Eclectic Roots Ensemble (ERE) – Watching Babylon, Jan. 13

“Watching Babylon Fall”, the latest roots reggae release from Eclectic Roots Ensemble (ERE), is an instant classic. This rockers riddim track is complete with horn section and a deep heavy roots bass line. The phased out and reverbed keyboard skanks give the track the slightest undertone of classic dub. Front man, writer, arranger, and multi instrumentalist Cortez Paschal sings of his conquering by “smoking on fire watching Babylon fall”. This is a most irie meditation jam. Lick up ya fire, and watch Babylon fall!

Zion Audio – Moon Music, Jan. 19

Zion Audio is a Hip Hop/Roots Hop project from producer Derek Christopher, and vocalist/MC B. Davis. On the Moon Music EP, Christopher, delivers a collection of mood swinging bass heavy hip hop beats that both stimulate and soothe the soul.  B. Davis, who has been presenting the world with sweet harmonic reggae vibes for years, MC’s this EP in it’s entirety. Davis contributes a righteous, conscious, lyrical style with a sweet unique flow on the mic.  This is not pop radio style booty hip hop, rather it is an effort to reach an audience that craves more in an MC. Davis and Christopher unite as Zion Audio to create just that, with Moon Music.

Phil Harmony – Pheeling, Jan. 27

Phil Harmony comes forward with “Pheeling”, his debut release on Boom One Records. Based in Germany, Phil Harmony is well known for his Dubnight HiFi radio show and series of Dub compilations. “Pheeling” is a down-tempo dub exploration with ambient soundscapes and mellow melodica melodies. If you’re a fan of Augustus Pablo or Thievery Corporation, this single is for you.
